Why Home Care?

  • People often prefer to remain at home rather than live in a health care facility.

  • Due to a greater sense of freedom and well-being, individuals can thrive in the comfort of their own homes.

  • Individuals are able to continue living life on their own terms.

  • While costs may very, many families find that home care is considerably less expensive than residence in a nursing home or assisted living facility.

When people can no longer take care of themselves or help their family members like they used to, they may begin to feel worthless and unneeded. Home care can help your loved one re-establish a sense of purpose and ease his or her fear of being a burden.

  • Individuals begin to look forward to caregiver visits for companionship and a chance to reminisce.

  • Caregivers can involve clients in appropriate activities, providing a sense of accomplishment (e.g., folding towels, sorting the mail, taking a walk.

  • Visits with family and friends become enjoyable again because someone else is responsible for keeping up with hygiene needs or fixing meals.

  • Caregivers can help individuals become involved in the community once more (e.g., taking clients to events, appointments, senior centers or to visit friends.
